SMR: industrialisation and demonstration
Updated: 2 February 2026. Objective: move from prototype to series by reducing risks (standardisation, supply chain, licensing and operating experience).

Many concepts, few series. Without standardisation, costs remain high and timelines stretch.

Proposal
- 2-3 reference designs for realistic standardisation.
- European pilot sites with data sharing and feedback.
- Regulated public procurement to initiate serial production.
Safeguards
- Safety: stringent and verifiable requirements.
- Transparency: public reporting on incidents and corrective actions.
- Skills: training and certification plan.
What we call for (amendments format)
1) One-stop shop for multi-state dossiers. 2) Multi-year demonstration programme. 3) European library of design standards and codes.
